Interested in a career in Fine Art, Animation, Illustration, Film, or Fashion?
These are just a few areas of employment that require understanding and knowledge of the dynamics of the human figure. However, most high schools are not able to provide an in-depth drawing course for this purpose. This course, developed by the Lyme Pre-College Academy and held at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum, offers serious students a rare opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills of the figure while strengthening their college portfolio through the practice of drawing from direct observation of life-models in a museum studio atmosphere. The course introduces students to a variety of quick and extended drawing exercises, which explore anatomy and propor-tion, movement, composition and page design, distribution of weight of the figure, and the use of line and shadow to render form.
If you are a high school student who would like to develop your understanding of the figure while pushing your drawing skills to the next level in a serious studio environment, this class is for you.
Please note the location: This class will meet in the Art Studio at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum, 625 Williams Street, New London, CT.
Teresa is determined to keep the tradition of the hand-drawn mark alive through her use of both traditional and contemporary mediums and methods. The purpose of her work is not only to satisfy her own expressive needs, but to transport viewers to an active place of personal investigation and questioning.
Ms. Bonillo holds her MFA in Visual Arts from The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley College in Cambridge, MA, and received her BA from Connecticut College where she also received Certificates in both Arts & Technology and Museum Studies, and is an alumnae of the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. Teresa is an Adjunct of Drawing at UCONN, and a teacher at Stonington High School, in Pawcatuck, CT. She has exhibited her works regionally including The New Britain Museum of American Art, The Worcester Museum, The Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, The Cooley Gallery, and Studio M.
