Merrill Mahaffey
Bright Angel Trancepts American Acrylic on canvas 1979 Gift of Charles Gordon 2002.8 THE GRAND CANYON by Joshua Chang A painting by Merrill Mahaffey of a beautiful National Park in the desert of Arizona, Formed over millions of years by wind, rain, ice and by the Colorado River. A spectacular view captured on canvas to excite and inspire us, Makes me want to go there and hang glide off the edge, And go soaring through the canyon with the birds.  Joshua Chang is nine years old and a fourth grade student at Old Saybrook Middle School. He was the winner of the museum’s 2007 “Name the Falcon Mummy” Contest.
