LYMAN ALLYN ART MUSEUM PRESENTS NEW COMMUNITY PROGRAM

New London – The Lyman Allyn Art Museum is pleased to partner with Pfizer Inc. and Groton Laboratories to present a new community program, Science Saturdays.

This fun, drop-in style program is designed for children ages 7-11. Science Saturdays will encourage participants to explore the intersections between art and science. Designed to demonstrate links, and sometimes mutual dependencies in both fields, Science Saturday sessions will expand students’ appreciation for these two disciplines.

Each month will feature a different gallery learning session, mini-experiment and hands-on art project. Programs are free with Museum admission (children under 12 are free), and run from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Through the generous support from Pfizer, the Museum is able to offer monthly STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) learning opportunities for children and parents to participate in arts and science together—integrated fun at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum!

The first Science Saturday program will be held on October 22nd. Participants will enjoy sculpting their own 3-D creations out of hand-made slime. As students create their ooey-gooey mixture, they will learn about the polymer molecules and ions that make slime so thick and stretchy. Please visit www.lymanallyn.org for more information on subsequent programs.
