THE SEASON OF WONDERMENT AT LYMAN ALLYN ART MUSEUM

New London – The Lyman Allyn Art Museum is pleased to announce the kick off of its month-long holiday season of Wonderment on Saturday, December 5th 2015. This season Museum visitors can delight in a range of programming including a performance by the Pumpernickel Puppets, a Holiday Greenery Workshop, and a Gingerbread House Workshop. Visitors are encouraged to drop in to our Holiday Café the first three Saturdays in December and enjoy a light lunch or indulge with our holiday á la carte menu. To add to the Wonderment, Snowflake Family Tea Parties will be held every Sunday in December!

The schedule follows:

Saturday, December 5: Pumpernickel Puppets / Free First Saturday
Free admission all day
-11:00am – 3:00pm: Fresh Winter Greenery sale by the New London Garden Club
-11:30am: The Pumpernickel Puppets will present a captivating and humorous performance of “Sir George & the Dragon”.
-12:00 – 2:00pm: Holiday Café in the Hendel Library
-1:00 – 3:00pm: Reindeer Gift Bags art project in the studio

Saturday, December 12: Holiday Greenery Workshop
-11:30am: Join us for a Holiday Greenery Workshop. Options include making your own kissing ball or tabletop decoration. All materials and assorted greenery will be supplied. All ages are welcome. Reservations required: 860.443.2545 x129; $10 members / $15 non-members. Limited space is available.
-12:00 – 2:00pm: Holiday Café in the Hendel Library

Saturday, December 19: Gingerbread House Workshop
-11:30am: Bring the family to the Lyman Allyn and take part in a fun-filled holiday tradition. All materials will be provided for you to take home a holiday craft, and leave the mess behind! All ages are welcome. Reservations required: 860.443.2545 x129; $20 members / $25 non-members, fee is based per gingerbread house. Limited space is available.
-12:00 – 2:00PM: Holiday Café in the Hendel Library

Snowflake Family Tea’s
Celebrate the holiday season of Wonderment at one of the Museum’s Snowflake Family Tea Parties. Enjoy splendid tea and desserts and then immerse yourself in hands-on fun and a scavenger hunt through the galleries. Fun for the whole family!
Dates (all teas 2:00-3:30pm):
-December 6: Snowflake Tea & enchanted dance workshop
-December 13: Snowflake Tea & enchanted dance workshop
-December 20: Snowflake Tea & sparkling snow-globe art project
-December 27: Snowflake Tea & sparkling snow-globe art project
Reservations required: 860.443.2545 x129; full payment required at time of reservation. $15 per adult/$10 per child (includes museum admission and event).

About the Lyman Allyn Art Museum
The Lyman Allyn Art Museum welcomes about 25,000 visitors annually from New London, southeastern Connecticut and all over the world. Established in 1926 by a gift from Harriet Allyn in memory of her seafaring father, the Museum opened the doors of its beautiful neo-classical building surrounded by 11 acres of green space in 1932. Today it presents a number of changing exhibitions each year and houses a fascinating collection of over 15,000 objects from ancient times to the present; artworks from Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe, with particularly strong collections of American paintings, decorative arts and Victorian toys and doll houses.

The museum is located at 625 Williams Street, New London, Connecticut, exit 83 off I-95. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Sundays 1:00 – 5:00 pm; closed Mondays and major holidays.
