Come explore two of Massachusetts’s  finest museums!  Our day begins with a guided tour of the special exhibition: 2013 deCordova Biennial, which focuses on art-making in New England today. Showcasing sculptors and painters alongside filmmakers and installation artists whose practices traverse a wide range of subject matter, the Biennial fills four floors of the Museum and extends into the Sculpture Park. Twenty-one artists and collaborative teams from all six northeastern states–CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, and VT–present signature and new works as well as site-specific commissions. Next, enjoy a boxed lunch (included in the trip price) in the museum café and then self-guide the extensive grounds and collections of outdoor sculptures. The day continues at the Rose Art Museum, located on the campus of Brandeis University. Guided tours will showcase both the temporary exhibitions and the permanent collection, which is strong in American art of the 1960s and 1970s, including works by Willem de Kooning, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Morris Louis, James Rosenquist and Andy Warhol. The bus departs at 3:30pm for CT. Advanced reservations are required. To reserve your space, contact the Education Department at 860-443-2545 x110 or email clarke@lymanallyn.org.  Bus departs from and returns to the parking lot of Lyman Allyn Art Museum, 625 Williams Street, New London.
