Members: $100 / Non-members: $110Is there any place better than New York City in the fall? Join the Lyman Allyn Art Museum for a spectacular day trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art! This trip is running in conjunction with the Lyman Allyn’s Art History for All class on Early Christian and Byzantine Art, taught by Connecticut College professor Dr. Joseph Alchermes.
The bus will depart the Lyman Allyn at 7:30 am and will arrive at the Metropolitan around 10:30 am. Dr. Alchermes will take all participants on a private tour of the Met’s famous Medieval and Byzantine Galleries, highlighting specific works of art that he touched upon during his five-week course. After the tour, participants are free to explore the Met and visit special exhibitions on view such as Delacroix (a joint exhibition between the Met and the Louvre); Devotion to Drawing: The Karen B. Cohen Collection of Eugene Delacroix; and Armenia! The Artistic and Cultural Achievements of the Armenian People. Enjoy lunch on your own or with friends at one of the Met’s seven dining facilities. After a day of art exploration, we will depart New York City at 4:00 pm and arrive back at the Lyman Allyn Museum around 7:00 pm (travel times are approximate and may be affected by traffic or weather conditions).
Special discount prices available for Early Christian and Byzantine Art History for All class participants.
