Join us at one or both of our January Jazz Sessions with artist and musician Doug Rice and trio! Spend a cozy Sunday afternoon listening to jazz and enjoying the art of Doug Rice, which will be on display behind the musicians. Rice’s assembled painting (11×22 feet) reads like a bluesy jazz arrangement. Titled “Mexico City Blues, 242 Choruses,” the piece is a series of 242 separate canvasses inspired by Jack Kerouac’s book of poetry of the same name. Using elements that appear on the poetry book’s cover and adding a blue circle symbolizing jazz and a red circle symbolizing Beat poetry, Rice painted a version of the same painting on each of the 242 canvasses.

Reception: 1:30 PM
Concert: 2:00 PM

Please RSVP to 860.443.2545 ext.2129 or email us.
