Please join us for a presentation by prominent naturalist Margarett (“Maggie”) Jones, Executive Director of the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center in Mystic and the visionary behind the successful Campaign to Save Coogan Farm. Maggie will talk about the diversity of habitats and wildlife in eastern Connecticut in relation to the paintings in the exhibition, “Inside the Natural World of Jan Beekman” and the unique and beautiful aspects of birds, plants, and places that inspire appreciation of nature and our place in it.

Maggie Jones received a degree in botany from Connecticut College in 1985, where she also took studio art classes and conducted and published research on birds and Landscape Ecology. After graduating, she studied Landscape Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design. Last spring, Jones was honored at Connecticut College with the Goodwin-Niering Center Environmental Achievement Award for more than 20 years of leadership in community environmental education and land conservation.
