DuMond’s Prismatic Palette in Practice
Virtual Lecture August 11, 6:00 – 7:00 (Zoom link)
Join us for a virtual discussion about the concept and practice of Frank Vincent DuMond’s Prismatic palette method of pre-mixing color strings for painting. This event is held in conjunction with the Museum’s current exhibition The Prismatic Palette: Frank Vincent DuMond and His Students. In conversation with Tanya Pohrt, Lyman Allyn curator of the exhibition, artists Rebecca Leer and Sarah Pike will explain and demonstrate the basic ideas of the prismatic palette and will compare their approaches to using and teaching the method. Rebecca Leer teaches at the Ridgewood Art Institute in Ridgewood, New Jersey, which reflects the teaching of DuMond student Arthur Maynard. Sarah Pike, great-granddaughter of Frank Vincent DuMond, studied with DuMond student Francis Weston Hoyt in plein air practice in New Hampshire.
