Materials
For the little artists still learning their shapes we recommend beginning the project with a book. Two of our favorites are Mouse Shapes by Ellen Walsh or as a bilingual option try Round is a Tortilla: A Book of Shapes by Roseanne Thong.
Cardboard and or paper, use whatever material you have available to you- Sharpie or marker
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
Instructions
- With adult permission, readings of Mouse Shapes and Round is a Tortilla can be found on YouTube to view prior to starting the project.
- Sketch out on a piece of plain paper your monster face. Experiment with different shapes and combinations until you have the one you want to build first.
- Select your background material and trim into the shape head you want your monster to have and set aside.
- Draw the shapes you need for the different facial features using your pencil and then cut them out and set aside. Try not to be wasteful and cut as many shapes out of each piece of paper as you can!
- When you have the combination you want, glue down each piece and let them dry and watch your monster come to life!
