Summer Art Immersion

The Lyman Allyn Art Museum is the place for fun and creativity this summer. The Museum is offering four weeks of hands-on art programs packed with exciting art projects, gallery tours, and more!  Summer Art Immersion is designed for children ages 5-11*.

The Summer Art Immersion program provides a wonderful opportunity for students to learn new artistic techniques and explore the collections. In addition to completing special themed projects, participants will tour the Museum’s exhibitions, explore the grounds and Sculpture Trail, and develop a portfolio.

Registration & Cost
Members: $200
Non-members: $225
Program discounts available for families with multiple children.

All sessions meet Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 12:30 PM.

Sessions & Themes
Session #1: Boats, Buoys, and Beaches, July 11-15 (ages 5-7)- SESSION FULL
Make art inspired by the Connecticut coast! Learn about how water has shaped our area while painting land-and sea-scapes, designing boats, making art that floats, and more.

Session #2: Plan a Park, July 18-22 (ages 8-11)-SESSION FULL
Learn about how landscape, architecture, and design meet to create some of our favorite places- Parks! Paint en plein air, design outdoors sculpture, draft a playground, and a variety of other two- & three-dimensional projects.

Session #3: Colorful Community, July 25-29 (ages 5-7)
Hey friend, what’s your favorite color? Learn about what different colors and patterns mean to different cultures, explore how murals enliven different spaces, and how colors help us understand emotions.

Session #4:  It’s Elemental, August 1-5 (ages 8-11)
Atoms, and cells, and molecules, oh my! In this STEAM based program, learn important connections between science and art. Harness the power of the sun while making sun & spore prints, use natural materials to create your own dyes, make art through chemical reactions, and more.

We are located just off I-95. Take Exit 83 and follow the cultural attraction signs.
